Chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast for May 29, the first day of the U.S. Women’s Open in Erin Hills, Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service.

Tthere is a small chance for a few funnel clouds to develop Thursday afternoon, but they should not touch the ground, according to the NWS. The 2025 U.S. Women’s Open will be played at Erin Hills, about 45 minutes northwest of Milwaukee.

“Bring an umbrella,” said NWS meteorologist Marcia Cronce. “It will not be a terrible day outside if you can handle the chance of showers.”

Forecasters are predicting another chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening as a weak cold front moves into the Milwaukee area. Gusty winds up to 45 miles per hour and hail will be possible during the storms, according to the NWS.

Temperatures Thursday are forecast in the upper 60s and will climb into the upper 70s on Friday, according to the NWS. Skies will remain clear into June 1, with a high near 76. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 80s on June 2.

Wildfire smoke from Canada may also move through the area Friday into the weekend, which could bring reduced visibility and affect air quality.
