Olympic champion Michael Johnson spoke to the Eagles at practice

While in Philadelphia to promote ‘Grand Slam Track’, Olympic Legend Michael Johnson spoke to Eagles recently about maintaining their Championship mindset

The Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions, and a team with All-Pros at key positions and a swagger to match is now the hunted. Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni searches for ways to keep his team motivated, and after one recent OTA practice, he had one of track & field’s most accomplished athletes speak to his team.

Olympic Legend Michael Johnson is in Philadelphia to preview this Week’s Grand Slam Track Event, and stopped by the NovaCare Complex to give the Eagles some game and motivation ahead of a gauntlet of 17 games.

Johnson jokingly talked about not knowing much about losing, but counseled Saquon Barkley on greatness and handed out gems to a young and confident roster.

Johnson became an Olympic Champion four times and a World Champion eight times in the span of his career. He held the world and Olympic records in the 200-meter and 400-meter, as well as the world record in the indoor 400 m. He also once held the world record in the 300-meter. Johnson is generally considered one of the greatest and most consistent sprinters in the history of track and field.

Johnson is the only male athlete to win both the 200 meters and 400 meters events at the same Olympics, a feat he accomplished at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Johnson is also the only man to successfully defend his Olympic title in the 400 m, having done so at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
