Social media reacts to USC football landing tight end Mark Bowman

On Friday, USC made yet another massive splash on the recruiting, landing five-star tight end Mark Bowman. Bowman is the latest addition to the Trojans’ top-ranked 2026 class.

The fact that USC is scoring decisive football recruiting victories is, in itself, its own very big story. What is also impossible to ignore, though, is how quickly the landscape seems to be shifting. USC went from being a punching-bag program left in the dust by Dan Lanning and Oregon to being the recruiting colossus in the West, handing its NIL operation with the steadiness and reliability which were nonexistent before Chad Bowden was hired as general manager. The winds of change are blowing, and they are blowing in USC’s direction.

The news of the Mark Bowman recruitment—and USC’s subsequent trolling of Dan Lanning on social media—certainly did not go unnoticed in the college football world. Following the news, numerous notable personalities reacted to the Trojans’ latest addition.

Here is what some of them had to say:

Mark Bowman, five-star tight end

“Come join the family. We are taking over the city! All of the talent that’s here, we gotta bring it to USC.”

Ari Wasserman, On3:

“USC landing a five-star TE from Mater Dei is the exact thing you want to see to buy into the Trojans long term. Big commitment for Lincoln Riley and USC.”

Josh Pate, CBS Sports

“Reminder: every USC commitment is irrelevant but every USC decommitment is 100% evidence of a fraudulent program”

In case you could not tell, there was a lot of sarcasm in Pate’s tweet.

J.D. Pickell, On3

“When USC is recruiting the Trinity League at a high level, good things are usually happening on the field. 6th commitment from that league in the 2026 cycle.”

Cody Warsham, USC Senior Associate Athletic Director

“Trojans, assemble!”

This was a response to the aforementioned video troll.
