Seth Trimble’s Strong Response After North Carolina Teammate Transfers to Rival originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Former UNC player Ven-Allen Lubin has committed to in-state rival NC State, adding to an already strong transfer class for the Wolfpack.
Lubin is the second Tar Heel to end up at NC State in the past two years. Dontrez Styles played for the Wolfpack last season after previous stints at Georgetown and UNC.
According to 247 Sports, Lubin is the eighth transfer that has committed to NC State under new head coach Will Wade. Wade was introduced as head coach in March 2025 after Kevin Keatts was fired that same month.
With the addition of Lubin, 247 Sports now ranks the Wolfpack’s incoming transfer class as the 13th best in the nation.
On3’s Joe Tipton reported the news on Monday.
“North Carolina transfer forward Ven-Allen Lubin has committed to NC State, he told @on3 🐺”
Seth Trimble, a 6-foot-3 guard who just finished his third season at Chapel Hill, responded to Tipton’s post by sharing a video of himself getting in an NC State player’s face.

Lubin, a 6-foot-11 forward from Orlando, averaged 8.6 points and a team-best 5.5 rebounds per game last season for the Tar Heels. He saved his best play for the end of the season when he averaged 13.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game over the last 10 games. He also had double-doubles in four of the last six games.
Lubin’s announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise to Tar Heel fans. Back in April, he entered the transfer portal and expressed interest in remaining with North Carolina.
Lubin wrote on X, “Before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusion, I am letting everyone know that I am entering the transfer portal with full intent on returning to UNC. My action relates to the complexities surrounding the possible approval of the pending NCAA settlement.”

Before his single season at North Carolina, Lubin played his freshman season at Notre Dame and his sophomore season at Vanderbilt. The upcoming season with the Wolfpack will be his last year of college basketball eligibility.
