Origin Story: In 2018, Watskin founder, actor Lois Robbins, received unexpected news from her dermatologist — a squamous cell was discovered above her lip, and she was advised to stay out of the sun. Determined not to give up her active lifestyle, she searched extensively for stylish, sun-protective clothing suitable for swimming, power walking and paddleboarding. The options were limited, leaving her unsatisfied with what was available.

Refusing to compromise, Lois decided to create something herself. She sourced UPF 50+ fabric, which provides 98% UV protection, and enlisted the help of a talented friend with a sewing machine. Her new creation quickly became her go-to outfit, and to her surprise, women everywhere began asking where they could purchase one. After two years of receiving unsolicited and overwhelming interest, she recognized a gap in the market — and an opportunity. That realization led to the birth of Watskin.
