Caitlin Clark has entered one of the toughest shooting stretches of her basketball career as the Indiana Fever looked to end a two-game drought on Tuesday night, facing Noelle Quinn and the Seattle Storm.

Clark has been unable to get her 3-point shots to go down. In the first two games of the Fever’s West Coast road trip, both losses, she made 1-of-17 shots from distance. She also recorded her first game without a 3-pointer this season.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star continued to struggle in the first half against the Storm, missing all four of her 3-point attempts. 

But Clark’s impact goes well beyond her shooting. Her playmaking ranks among the best in the WNBA, as she leads the league with 8.9 assists per game. And Quinn would agree.

After the first two quarters, with the Fever up 45-39, Quinn joined NBATV for a halftime interview. When asked about Clark, Quinn had nothing but respect for the All-WNBA point guard.

“(Clark) is a matchup nightmare because she can pass, shoot and do a lot of good things on the basketball court,” Quinn said. “I like our attention to detail on her. I like how we’re staying in plays. And I like that we’re getting our hand up and making it difficult.”

Like Clark, Quinn was also a first-round pick, selected No. 4 overall by the Minnesota Lynx in 2007. After spending her final three playing seasons with Seattle (2016-2018), she joined the team as an assistant coach in 2019. Two years later, in 2021, Quinn was promoted to head coach. 

Quinn has won two WNBA championships in her career, one as a player and one as an assistant coach. She has also led the Storm to the playoffs in three of her first four seasons as head coach.
