Bears QB Caleb Williams predicted to accomplish rare feat in 2025

The Chicago Bears prioritized quarterback Caleb Williams’ development this offseason with a myriad of moves, including the hiring of Ben Johnson as head coach, a revamped offensive line and even more weapons. And the stage is set for Williams to have a breakout season.

The Bears are banking on Williams to become the franchise quarterback they’ve been searching for, and following an encouraging rookie season amid chaos, the former first overall pick now gets to work with one of the brightest offensive minds in the league in Johnson. While it might take a little time for Williams and Johnson’s connection to develop, one NFL analyst is predicting big things from Williams in 2025.

NFL.com’s Jeffri Chadiha made a bold prediction about Williams accomplishing something no quarterback has ever done in Bears franchise history — pass for 4,000 yards. In fact, Chadiha believes Williams will throw for 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns in his first season with Johnson.

“There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the Bears’ second-year quarterback and his ability to make good on all the promise that made him the top pick in the 2024 draft,” wrote Chadiha. “One thing that shouldn’t be doubted is whether he’ll become the first Chicago signal-caller to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. Williams won’t just reach that barrier; he’ll blow it away, especially when considering all the advantages he has working for him now. The Bears hired the best offensive mind available to be their head coach in Ben Johnson. They’ve rebuilt the offensive line, drafted more pass catchers (tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden III) and filled more holes on the defense. Williams threw for 3,541 yards and 20 touchdowns last season when he was running for his life and trying too hard to extend plays. Better coaching and an improved supporting cast will make life much easier for him, and the numbers will bear that out.”

Williams didn’t exactly enter the best situation as a rookie (and fans understand his initial hesitance to join the Bears), but there are no more excuses after the Bears dedicated a ton of resources to ensure he takes a leap in his sophomore season.

Despite a chaotic rookie season, Williams still passed for 3,541 yards in 2024. So it’s fair to believe Williams will eclipse that 4,000-yard passing mark for the first time in franchise history with Johnson calling the shots and an improved offensive line.
