Sézane Hosts an Alfresco Summer Dinner in East Hampton

Last night, as a heatwave gave way to a welcome breeze, Sézane marked the season—and the opening of its East Hampton pop-up—with an al fresco dinner at The Maidstone. The Parisian brand, co-hosting the evening with Selby Drummond, welcomed guests into a lush garden setting where spritzes flowed and conversation turned to fashion, philanthropy, and the joys of summer by the sea.

The crowd was dressed in the label’s latest collection: a chocolate polka-dot skirt, a beaded halter, a crisp white floor-length number—each piece channeling the easy elegance that defines Sézane. Notably, the collection is the first to benefit from the brand’s ongoing charitable initiative, Demain, established by founder Morgane Sézalory in 2018. Through Demain, Sézane donates 100% of profits from a selected item and 10% of global online sales each month to causes supporting education and cultural access. Their current partner? Libraries Without Borders, a nonprofit delivering books, technology, legal aid, and learning resources to underserved schools and communities.

“I learned about Sézane four years ago,” said Drummond. “A friend of mine was launching a mental health initiative for women navigating antidepressant use during pregnancy or postpartum. She told me, ‘This chic little Parisian brand is underwriting all my costs.’ That brand was Sézane. I was immediately impressed.”

Drummond later discovered Sézane’s work with Libraries Without Borders. “They started in France and send books and resources to children in conflict zones. They reduce access barriers to libraries. It’s incredible to me that behind this retail success story is a B-Corp that’s donated ten million euros over the past seven years.”

That sentiment was echoed by Nina Safane, Executive Director of Libraries Without Borders US. “Sézane makes so much of our work possible,” she shared. “Their support fuels our largest U.S. initiative—allowing us to host information sessions, bring mobile libraries to schools, expand tutoring programs, and more.”

Dinner, served beneath string lights and framed by blooming hydrangeas, included seasonal crudités, radishes, and handmade ravioli by chef Katie Lee Biegel. Guests included Georgia Fowler, Aurora James, Beanie Feldstein, Rickie De Sole, and Jessica Sailer van Lith.

In her toast, Drummond acknowledged the effort it takes to rally a crowd in the Hamptons: “But if there’s one brand that could do it,” she said, “it’s a brand that’s making a difference. And that’s Sézane.”
