Media, coaches erupt over Carter Meadows committing to Michigan

Michigan football is on an incredible run in building its 2026 recruiting class, having gone from seven commits entering the month of June to 18. And Sunday saw the Wolverines get the biggest of them all.

Ranked the No. 6 overall player in the country, regardless of position, Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga five-star edge rusher Carter Meadows appeared to be between Michigan and Ohio State. There was optimism coming from Columbus following Meadows’ official visit there, but he took in Ann Arbor another time for Victors Weekend, and ended up choosing the maize and blue over the scarlet and gray on Sunday.

While most commitments get a strong reaction from fans, coaches, and the media, the news of Meadows’ pledge went to another level. A ton of national analysts shared their thoughts, the local media came in with glowing praise, and the coaches shared their elation.
