Caitlin Clark Receives Unfortunate News on Thursday

Though reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark missed her fourth straight game on Thursday, the Indiana Fever reeled off their third straight win with an 81-54 victory over the Las Vegas Aces.

It also marked the second straight game the Fever held their opponent to under 60 points — a feat that hadn’t happened in the WNBA since 2003.

After going 2-3 without Clark earlier in the season while she missed three weeks with a quadriceps injury, the Fever are 4-1 without her during her latest stint on the injury report with a groin injury.

And while things are going well for Indiana, which is gelling quite nicely with Clark on the mend and after parting ways with DeWanna Bonner and re-signing Aari McDonald, the 23-year-old Clark received some unfortunate news regarding the 2025 All-Star Game after the Fever’s latest win.

“⭐️Team Clark will be coached by Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve. ⭐️Team Collier will be coached by New York Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello,” the WNBA Communications department announced on X.

Reeve is a known Clark critic.

Last May, she took to X to voice her frustration with the WNBA’s television coverage and the favoritism she claimed the league was showing Clark with the number of games that featured the Fever.

Reeve even used the hashtags #12teams and #theWismorethanoneplayer to get her point across, and she commented “That part” on one fan’s post claiming the WNBA only cared about promoting Clark.

Reeve was also the head coach of the 2024 USA Olympic women’s basketball team. When the roster was announced and Clark didn’t make the cut, many fans assumed Reeve had something to do with her exclusion — an assertion she denied.

So when Thursday’s news was announced, fans flocked to the comment section to make their frustrations known about the league seemingly vindictively pairing Reeve and Clark together.

“Great…we get CC hater Cheryl Reeve. The same coach too stupid to put her on the Olympic team,” one fan wrote.

“[Expletive] CC got the opps as coach, swap em please,” another commented.

“Y the fk we got Cheryl Reeve,” a third fan exclaimed.

“Cheryl, who kept CC off the Olympic team so that no one would watch that [expletive] and then almost lost to France while Turasi and Griner rode the pine?” remarked one user.

“No one wants to see Cheryl Reeve run Caitlin Clark in a motion offense. This is an embarrassment. Reeves hates Caitlin,” another user scoffed.

“No one wants to see Cheryl coach Caitlin’s team. No one,” one fan replied.
