The Chargers are gearing up for the new season, which features a mix of new and returning faces within the organization. Several players are crucial to the team’s success this season.
Every day from now until the start of training camp, we’re counting down our 20 Most Important Chargers for the 2025 season. We’ll recap their 2024 season, look ahead, and hit on the biggest question facing them this year.
Next up at No. 9 is cornerback Tarheeb Still.
Background
Age: 22
Position: Cornerback
Experience: 2nd season
2025 cap hit: $1.053 million
2024 recap
Selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft, Still exceeded expectations and became a key contributor in Jesse Minter’s defense. In 14 games, 12 of them being starts, Still recorded 62 total tackles, 10 passes defended, and led the team with four interceptions. His most memorable game came in Week 13 against the Falcons, where he recorded two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
2025 outlook
To ensure that the Chargers’ defense remains at a high level, Still’s play will be vital. Unlike his fellow teammate in the cornerback room, Cam Hart, Still provides versatility to play both outside and inside. When Derwin James is in the slot, Still can play on the outside. When James is at safety, Still can play inside. His instincts and ball skills will be integral in achieving the same production as a season ago.
Big question: Can Still continue to play a high level and be a shutdown corner in a larger role?
