Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Had Three Words After Blue Jays' Historic Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the best teams in MLB this season. Sitting atop the American League East standings with a 58-41 record, Toronto is riding a three-game winning streak that has its cushion over the second-place Yankees sitting at 3.0 games.
Earlier this season, the Blue Jays agreed to a 14-year, $500 million contract extension with slugging first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to keep him in Toronto for the entirety of his career. While this moved signified Toronto's intent to compete, it has not just been Guerrero contributing to this dominant season, as his individual production has actually taken a step back from where it was in 2024.
While he still rates as one of the AL's best hitters, boasting an .824 OPS this season, Guerrero is carrying a .439 slugging percentage that is the second-lowest mark if his career. Despite this power dip, the five-time All-Star has been a key contributor all season long for Toronto, and has helped the Blue Jays make history.
On Sunday, the team announced it had tied a franchise record by winning a 10th straight home game. Guerrero was a big part of the win, collecting two hits and two RBIs while also hitting his 13th home run on the season.
Following the Blue Jays' historic announcement, Guerrero took to Instagram with a three-word post.
"CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS," he wrote.

Guerrero recently appeared in his fifth MLB All-Star Game, representing the Blue Jays for the American League — who fell in a tie-breaking home run derby in Atlanta. He is in his seventh MLB season, all of which have come in Toronto.
