I Can't Stop Thinking About All the Ways to Wear This Necklace

Editors’ Picks are the Fashionista team’s true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all.

We all have those items that seem to follow us around the internet. I’m not talking those relentless targeted ads or obvious broad-scale seeding efforts from brands; but rather, the more organic discoveries we see on a select handful of friends, acquaintances or cool-girl influencers. One such haunting piece for me, giving me a case of the shoppies for months, was Dorsey’s Yves Paracord Necklace.

The perfect mix of casual ease and fancy-person elegance, the necklace combines the sporty aesthetic of a nylon cord (which comes in a variety of colorways) with the sparkle of gemstones, available in a range of options including lab-grown Sapphires and diamonds.

I first spotted the piece on style influencer Courtney Grow, one of my (and the rest of the internet’s) favorite people to turn to for shopping inspo. And then I kept seeing it around the city, both on random fashion-y people I’d pass on the streets of NYC and on friends like beauty publicist Madeleine Fawcett.

After much pining, some PR friends very generously gifted it to me. Ever since, I’ve been trying to think of all of the different ways to wear it. I mean that literally: The necklace is fully reversible, meaning you can wear it with the pendant at the front, or flip it around and display the also-gem-adorned cinching piece as the main focal point for an elevated bolo-like vibe. And because the length is completely adjustable by moving that piece around, it can be worn as a full-length necklace, choker or any custom length in between. That makes it especially adaptable for every neck size and neckline, which I love.

If the spherical pendant isn’t your style, there are also really cute versions that combine the paracord with tennis-like strings of stones or single pearls. I have the “Sable” one shown above, which has proven to be a versatile neutral, but all of the options are equally appealing, in my opinion. It’s been a go-to for elevating any outfit this summer, and now I can be one of those random fashion-y people on the streets of NYC. (Or at least, come a little closer.)
