Caitlin Clark remains sidelined heading into Thursday’s matchup. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year has appeared in just 13 games this season and hasn’t played since July 15 against Connecticut.

Clark is still recovering from a groin injury, and there’s no clear timeline for her return. However, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White and her team got a bit of good news Thursday ahead of their home game against the Las Vegas Aces.

On Thursday afternoon, the team posted an update on their second-year star:

“Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week, which confirmed that no additional injuries or damage were discovered. Clark will continue working with the medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being. There is no timetable available for her return.”

The Fever enter Thursday’s game with a 12-12 record and are currently on a two-game losing streak after falling to the Liberty on the road Tuesday. They now face a Vegas team that sits just ahead of them in the standings at 12-11.

Clark has been a major contributor when healthy, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game.

In her absence, Sophie Cunningham has started the past two games, averaging 13.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell continues to lead Indiana in scoring, putting up 19.5 points per game while appearing in every contest this season.

Clark’s next chance to return is Sunday when the Fever visit Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. After that, Indiana returns home on Wednesday to host the Phoenix Mercury.

No matter when Clark is cleared, the Fever need her energy and playmaking to power a strong second-half push and stay in the playoff race.
