Just when college football fans thought that sign stealing was behind them with the whole Connor Stalions and Michigan ordeal, a new instance of alleged cheating has surfaced.
Last week, On3’s Tiger Sports Report revealed that multiple sources had come forward and alleged that now-former safety Tahj Ra-El had leaked Memphis’ game plan to UTSA before the teams faced off on November 2.
On Thursday, a screenshot of the alleged Instagram DM between Ra-El and UTSA starting quarterback Owen McCown was shared to X by On3.

In the messages allegedly from Ra-El, it is clear that a paper with signals was sent to the person believed to be the son of former NFL quarterback and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback coach, Josh McCown. The sender of the messages also broke down the team’s game plan, expressing that they run quarters.
The user believed to be Ra-El also provided a scouting report on his own team, highlighting a certain player whom he called the “weakest link.”
It is unclear whether McCown used the information, but he replied “Bet but lmk if they cut your stuff I’ll put in a word.”
The Roadrunners did end up beating Memphis by a score of 44-36.
According to On3, Ra-El was “dismissed” from the team in October, which some are pointing to as why he leaked the information.
He has since transferred to Purdue, but his player profile on the school’s site has been removed.
Neither Memphis nor UTSA has commented on the matter as of publication.
