Getting closer to sorting out offensive line

The Seattle Seahawks have been promoting competition throughout their offensive line at training camp. On Thursday, the team held its eighth practice of camp. With the preseason fast approaching, the Seahawks appear closer to figuring out their preferred starting lineup.

Left tackle Charles Cross missed Thursday’s practice after undergoing finger surgery, but he’s an unquestioned starter. At Thursday’s practice, veteran swing tackle Josh Jones filled in on the blindside. Grey Zabel was the left guard, Olu Oluwatimi was at center, Anthony Bradford was the right guard, and Abe Lucas was at right tackle.

Oluwatimi seems to be leading the competition to start at center. He’s been competing with sophomore blocker Jalen Sundell, and Christian Haynes has also seen the occasional rep at center. It was Oluwatimi who started for the Seahawks last year when Connor Williams abruptly retired. The former Michigan standout continues to lead the charge.

Bradford and Haynes are competing at right guard for a second consecutive offseason. Bradford has impressed his new coaches at training camp, Klint Kubiak and John Benton, specifically. He was recently named their “most surprising player of the offseason” by ESPN, and appears to be winning the competition at right guard for now.

The Seahawks are getting closer to finalizing their preferred starting lineup across the offensive line for the 2025 season.
