No charges will be filed on former Longhorns WR who might join Browns

Sexual assault charges against former Texas Longhorns WR Isaiah Bond have been no-billed. He faces no more criminal charges, according to ESPN. Bond was arrested in April on an outstanding sexual assault warrant. After going undrafted, the speedy wide receiver could finally end up on an NFL roster.

“After reviewing all the evidence presented, a Collin County grand jury returned a ‘no bill’ in the sexual assault charge involving Isaiah Bond, meaning no indictment will be issued. This concludes the criminal proceedings in this matter.” – Statement from Collin County (TX) District Attorney Greg Willis

The arrest certainly cost Bond millions. Coming after Bond declared for the draft, but a few weeks before the actual event, the Georgia native went undrafted. He was projected to go around the third round.

At the time of his arrest, Bond was released after posting a $25,000 bond. He quickly filed a federal lawsuit against his accuser, alleging defamation and maintaining the sexual encounter was consensual. The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice last month by the U.S. District Court in North Texas.

After his case was no-billed, Bond released a statement on social media that seemed to indicate he was going to be joining the Cleveland Browns. He also thanked the prosecutor and the courts and said, “I will learn from this experience.”

In the statement he thanked the Browns “for believing in me.” But nothing has been formalized between Bond and the Browns, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bond, who was at Texas one year after transferring from Alabama, caught 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns for the Horns. At ‘Bama, Bone caught 65 passes for 888 yards and five touchdowns.
