Liverpool quickly established a comfortable lead in this season opener, thanks to Hugo Ekitike, who marked his Premier League debut with a goal and an assist. The Frenchman opened the scoring in the 37th minute before setting up Cody Gakpo for the second goal in the 49th. Antoine Semenyo’s response began in the 64th minute, latching onto a pinpoint cross from David Brooks.
