Among the pantheon of Kobe Bryant sneakers, there are few styles as highly regarded as 2010’s Grinch colorway on his sixth signature model. The bright Green Apple Christmas colorway, which was released again in 2020 and flipped with a Reverse Grinch look in 2023, remains one of the most beloved shoes in the groundbreaking Kobe franchise. Soon, a brand new Christmas colorway will join this esteemed company in the form of the recently reissued Nike Kobe 3 Protro.

Official Nike product images of the Kobe 3 Protro Christmas surfaced Friday, offering a detailed look at the next installment of Kobe Christmas sneakers. This time, the Kobe 3 goes icy with a Royal Pulse/Chrome/White color combination that features a frozen appearance.

The icy look features a gradient fade from blue to white and outfits the model’s signature basketball-inspired TPU caging in a fully translucent look. A snowy graphic appears on the toe, while the heel and tongue branding feature a holographic finish.

Thus far, the Nike Kobe 3 Protro has received high marks from fans. The model’s Protro (short for “performance retro”) improvements include a full-length Zoom Air Strobel cushioning unit paired with Cushlon 3.0 foam, an updated mesh upper and a tweaked traction pattern for added grip.

“It’s the first time we’ve overhauled the outsole, midsole and upper together in a Protro,” Jeni Takekawa McDonald, Kobe footwear product director at Nike, said in a press release. “We listened to wear-test feedback and made real updates. This is a smarter, sharper, better version of an already strong performer.”

Following the Kobe 3 Protro’s Saturday debut in honor of Bryant’s birthday, the Christmas makeup will be one of the next styles to land at retail. It’s expected to be released this holiday season from Snkrs and select Nike retailers for a retail price of $210. The sneaker’s style code is IQ5338-400.
