Before the St. Louis Cardinals began their four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates to open a new week of the regular season, they made multiple moves within the roster.

On Monday, the Cardinals flipped pitchers on the 26-man roster, recalling right-handed pitcher Gordon Graceffo and optioning right-handed pitcher Andre Granillo to Triple-A Memphis, the team announced on X.

The move was made as St. Louis continues to fight to get back into the NL Wild Card race and get back to an above .500 win percentage.

Breaking down the Cardinals' pitcher swap on Monday

Graceffo, 25, has made 17 appearances in 2025 (19 appearances in his career). He's been moved between the Cardinals' minor league team and the major leagues multiple times this season. He hasn't made an appearance for St. Louis since Aug. 9.

In the short amount of usage this season, Graceffo hasn't been able to get things going this season despite his 3-0 record. In 31.0 innings, he has a 5.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts.

Andre Granillo, 25, has made 12 appearances since making his MLB debut back on June 12. The first two months of his Cardinals career were successful, but after his last four starts, St. Louis decided to send him back to the minors. On July 27, his season ERA was at 2.38; since then, it's shot up to 4.82.

St. Louis was able to steal the first game of the series against the Pirates; they will look to Andre Pallante to face off against Mitch Keller in the second divisional matchup.
