Naomi Osaka brought a bevy of sparkle and floral inspiration to her 2025 U.S. Open first round match against Greet Minnen of Belgium, wearing a custom red rose Nike kit with a matching Labubu for Tuesday night in New York City’s Flushing Meadows.
The four-time Grand Slam champion walked on court in a monochrome look, wearing a rose red tennis dress with a bubble hemline skirt, a nod to the resurgence of Y2K trends courtesy of Nike, with whom the athlete held an endorsement deal since 2019. Atop her sleeveless tennis kit, Osaka wore a long-sleeve zip-up jacket with allover red sparkles.

Osaka continued her red rose theme with her Nike GP Challenge 1 namesake sneakers, which also featured subtle rose details. Upon entering Louis Armstrong Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, fans saw Osaka’s hair adorned with shimmering red rose appliqués.
Although her hair was tossed into a tight bun during her match, Osaka’s court entry look featured long detachable braided extensions with rose hair accessories throughout. A few floral appliqués remained in Osaka’s hair during her match.

Apart from her floral hair accessories, Osaka also brought a small, trendy addition to her tennis Kit. One of the athlete’s bags featured a Labubu holding a bright blue tennis racquet and encrusted with gold, red and blue sparkles. In a post-match interview, Osaka revealed her Labubu’s name is “Billie Jean Bling,” a reference to tennis champion Billie Jean King.
“Honestly, the inspiration is following the theme that I’ve had with Nike this entire year, so flowers. We’re doing roses at the U.S. Open,” Osaka said in a post-match interview shared to the Women’s Tennis Association’s official Instagram account, highlighting the roses on her sneakers and in her hair. “New York sparkles, roses and Miss Billie Jean Bling.”

Osaka’s 2025 U.S. Open Nike kit merged several trends, while maintaining Osaka’s own approach to on-court fashion. The athlete capitalized on the ongoing resurgence of Y2K trends with her tennis dress’ bubble hem, and embraced the Labubu craze with her sparkling small accessory. Osaka put a fresh spin on her flower theme for the 2025 grand slam season with the rose appliqués in her hair, not dissimilar from the tact she took with her 2025 French Open look in May.
The 2025 U.S. Open kicked off on Sunday and concludes on Sept. 8. Men’s singles champion Jannik Sinner of Italy and women’s singles champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus return to defend their titles, along with American tennis stars Coco Gauff, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz and more competing.
