NFL rivalry jerseys: New uniforms to be worn when teams take on their most-storied opponent in 2025

The NFL is taking rivalry games to a new level in 2025. In an attempt to play up big games between some of the biggest adversaries in the sport, teams from the AFC East and NFC West will don new rivalry jerseys for select matchups.

The league unveiled those rivalry uniforms Thursday, which received high marks from fans. The Buffalo Bills, in particular, stole the show with a sleek, white uniform meant to evoke the snowy weather in the area during December games.

The Bills’ rivalry uniforms stand out as arguably the biggest departure from a team’s standard jersey. The Miami Dolphins altered the primary color on their jersey, going with black. The hints of orange and teal sprinkled throughout the uniform make it identifiable as a Dolphins jersey.

The New England Patriots and New York Jets took a similar approach to their rivalry jerseys. Both feature colors you would normally associate with those franchises, but with a different shade.

The Jets opted for a dark green as the primary color on their rivalry jerseys.

The Patriots went with a darker shade of blue.

Each AFC East team will wear those uniforms once in 2025 when their play their biggest rival. The Dolphins will be the first to don the rivalry jersey, and will wear it during a Sept. 29 game against the Jets.

The Bills will wear their rivalry jersey Oct. 5 against the Patriots. New England will don their rivalry uniform Nov. 13 against the Bills.

The Jets will be the final team in the AFC East to wear the rivalry uniform. That will happen Dec. 7 against the Dolphins.

Over in the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers opted for the boldest re-design, which focused on black.

The Los Angeles Rams didn’t go that far, instead using a shade of blue so dark that it evokes midnight.

Both the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals decided to go with white jersey, both featuring their own unique design. For the Seahawks, that includes stripes near the shoulder pads and a helmet that is “iridescent green with a metallic chrome finish,” per the team’s website.

The Cardinals’ jerseys contain spots, which are meant to evoke the sand and clay of the Arizona desert.

Of that group, the Cardinals will be the first to show off their rivalry uniform. The team will wear it during its Sept. 25 game against the Seahawks.

The Rams are up next, and will don their rivalry uniform against the Seahawks on Nov. 16. Seattle will get it’s chance a little over a month later, and will wear its rivalry uniform against the Rams on Dec. 18.

The 49ers are the last team to wear their rivalry uniform, and will do so Jan. 4 against the Seahawks.

Teams from the AFC East and NFC West are the only franchises that will wear rivalry uniforms this season. But every other division is expected to get their own rivalry uniforms in the coming years, per ESPN. The AFC South and NFC North are expected to debut their rivalry jerseys in 2026, with the NFC East and AFC West taking 2027 and the AFC North and NFC South finishing things off in 2028.

This story will be updated.
