Valentino And C-Pop Icon Jolin Cai Celebrate Qixi With ‘Pillow’ Music Video

Celebrating China‘s Valentine’s Day Qixi with groovy tunes, Valentino has linked up with Taiwanese pop icon Jolin Cai on a music video for “Pillow,” a dreamy pop single from her latest album “Pleasure.”

Working with Cai’s longtime stylist Tungus Chan, Valentino dressed Cai and costar Tor Thanapob, a renowned Thai actor, for the video set in 1980s Hollywood.

The video features ten looks from Valentino’s fall 2025 collection, including a daring sheer lace bodysuit and a knotted chiffon bustier top with baggy jeans for Cai, and various double-breasted suits with flared wool trousers for Thanapob.

An homage to old Hollywood glamour, the film — directed by local talent Jeremy Qin — follows a young actress portrayed by Cai, who is caught in a subtle romance with her on-screen partner, played by Thanapob.

Le Chat de la Maison, the brand’s new feline muse, also made a few cameos in the shoot, first as a cute kitten bag, then as a print motif on a pair of Valentino Garavani and Vans crossover sneakers.

The luxe skate shoes were first unveiled during creative director Alessandro Michele’s fall 2025 runway show, themed “Le Méta Théâtre Des Intimité,” which was staged in a giant public toilet drenched in red light. A major theme of the collection was exploring the performative nature of intimacy, which was also alluded to in the music video.

The crossover sneakers are making their global debut on Friday via the brand’s WeChat Mini Program and retail for 3,800 renminbi, or $531. The sneaker, which comes in a total of six styles, will be available on the brand’s website and in selected boutiques worldwide starting in mid-September.

The China rollout date falls on the same day as China’s traditional Valentine’s Day, Qixi, an important gifting period for the market.

Known as the “queen of C-pop,” Cai was named a face of Valentino in February 2024. Most recently, she appeared in the brand’s 2025 Chinese New Year campaign alongside Sun Li, another brand ambassador.

A prolific musician, Cai released her 15th studio album, “Pleasure,” in July. Centered around the concept of the seven deadly sins, the album includes 13 tracks of high-energy, seductive and highly danceable tracks.

Thanapob, a beloved actor in Thailand, is best known for works including “Hormones: The Series,” “May Who?” and “In Family We Trust.”
