Crystal Palace could sign Wolves target Christantus Uche on deadline day

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Christantus Uche from Getafe as the Eagles look to land needed reinforcement on transfer deadline day, according to Loic Tanzi.

Wolves had been chasing him for some time, but the Eagles have now swooped in to snap up the player. Selhurst Park could be his next stomping ground.

Oliver Glasner’s side is desperate to get reinforcements after a sluggish transfer window, and their radar has landed on the industrious Uche.

The 22-year-old Nigerian international is a rapid and powerful attacking midfielder.

He is a potentially fantastic weapon for Palace, especially following Eberechi Eze’s departure.

Uche works incredibly hard defensively and has been making massive improvements in the attacking phase.

He delivered 10 goal contributions last season and has started the current campaign in top form (a goal and an assist in three).

He can add a new dimension to Palace’s attack as they look to improve on their 12th-place Premier League finish last term.

But while Uche’s arrival may paper over the cracks, it does not hide the bigger issue. The Palace board has squandered a golden chance to push the club forward.

After lifting the FA Cup and Community Shield, Palace had the perfect platform to attract quality players and build a squad capable of consolidating their success.

Instead, they dithered and left their manager to scramble at the final hour.

Glasner has every right to feel betrayed. Deadline day should never be a desperate rescue mission for a club that has tasted silverware.

Yet here Palace stand, playing catch-up while rivals strengthen. The board’s lack of urgency has been ponderous, and supporters are right to feel disillusioned.
