4-star DL Khary Wilder still feels like major priority by Ohio State

Khary Wilder is off to a phenomenal start to his senior season after a great summer which featured a great performance at the Rivals Five-Star.

The four-star defensive lineman from Gardena (Calif.) Serra committed to Ohio State over Notre Dame, Washington, UCLA and others this summer and his game only continues to get better.

Facing double teams and more, Wilder already has 4.5 sacks in two games this season as the Ohio State commit rampages through offensive linemen and has a laser-focus on getting players on the ground.

“I feel like I’ve been dominating,” Wilder said.

“In my sophomore year I had around 15 sacks but in my junior year I faced a lot of double teams so in the offseason I was trying to get my body right, physically prepare myself for those double teams to be even more physically dominant so whenever I get a one-on-one now I feel like no one can stop me.”

Wilder has been a menace so far this season in wins over Palos Verdes and Los Angeles Hamilton as Serra’s defense has held both opponents scoreless.

In the win last week over Hamilton, one of Wilder’s hits went viral because he knocked the helmet clean off the quarterback’s head.

From his relentless motor to his speed and power, Wilder has superstar potential at Ohio State and his relationship with that coaching staff has been going great. Playing for position coach Larry Johnson was a massive draw in Wilder’s decision.

“It’s going great,” Wilder said. “I have a great relationship with the coaches. They wish me luck before my games and they also told me how good I played so I continue to build a great relationship with them and love the program and I’m excited for them.”

Wilder does not have any visit plans yet but he’s still working on some dates to get out to Columbus. Ohio State’s coaching staff continues to make him feel like a priority so while other programs poke around, he’s staying loyal to the Buckeyes.

“That’s a big thing to me because I committed to them after they offered me and they’ve kept building the relationship with me,” Wilder said. “That means a lot to me and that goes a long way, just another guy who committed but a guy they prioritize and that is a big factor coming in.”
