Leaked video shows another side of Matt Rhule addressing players at halftime

Matt Rhule has taken on a different tone to start the 2025 season.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers coach is trying to break into the new era of college football with a podcast, but doesn't change his discipline when it comes to the game. He wasn't happy with his team at halftime of the Akron game this past weekend and let his emotions fly.
Rhule was upset with his team's lack of awareness and wanted to light a fire under them.
"I freaking lost it in the locker room," he told the media after the game. "I was pissed that we let them drive the ball down right before the half, almost making a field goal. Where's the killer instinct?"

Video of the locker room interaction surfaced on social media and was circulated by former Huskers great and Bussin' with the Boys co-host Will Compton. Keep in mind, Nebraska was up 33-0 at halftime and Rhule was still fuming.
"Maybe I just have a different standard. I don't like them frickin' moving the ball at the—they're dropping back at the end of the f-ing half. We're on the sidelines, me and John (Butler) are saying, "they'll take a knee here. They'll run the ball.
"They don't fear you. They don't respect you enough yet. And if that sounds like coach speak, then you have the wrong brain. They're dropping back against our starting defense. They're cutting our O-line at the end of the half.
"I told you I don't care what the score is. I told you I care what the tape looks like. Did I trip when the ball was fumbled? No, I don't care what happens in the game. I want to see what the next play is."
Rhule went on to say, "I don't care what the score is. Troy told you guys shutouts are precious. We almost gave up a f-ing shutout."
It's clear to say Rhule isn't making any excuses this year and wants more from his players.
Nebraska received votes in both the AP and coaches poll this week after starting the season with a 20-17 win at Arrowhead Stadium against Cincinnati before smashing Akron 68-0.
