Liverpool suffered a pair of injuries in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League defeat at Galatasaray, as Hugo Ekitike joined Alisson Becker in making an early exit.

With Alisson confirmed out until after the international break, the news on Ekitike is a bit more promising.
Ekitike was reaching for an errant pass when he hit the turf with what appeared to be a muscular injury. He was replaced by Alexis Mac Allister, as Ekitike only was able to spend five minutes on the pitch alongside sub Alexander Isak.
Ekitike limped off the field in clear distress. He’s been a very durable player in his career, rarely missing time, but the latest update appear to be a bit more positive.

Arne Slot spoke to reporters on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea and confirmed that Hugo Ekitike will train and then be assessed.
“Hugo is going to train today again and let’s see where he is, and the same can be said for Federico [Chiesa]. We have to wait and see after the session where exactly they are.”
That seems like Ekitike is going to be fit for the bench, at the very least. And at least that would give Liverpool another option in attack.
Alexander Isak is still building up his fitness and went less than a half-hour in the midweek defeat at Galatasaray and will be expected to start Saturday — and may have been atop the attack regardless — for a big Premier League scrap with Chelsea at 12:30pm ET.
But the latest update appears good news for Liverpool, as Ekitike has also been called up by the French national team for the international break next week.
