Friday Flakes: Old Friend Alante Brown is Coming Back to Lincoln but Wearing Green

I saw this week from @HuskGuys on twitter that Alante Brown, who played three seasons for Scott Frost, is apparently still playing college football.

Brown started 11 games while at Nebraska and caught 22 passes over those three seasons for the Huskers. He transferred to Michigan State after Scott Frost was fired and has found a way to play three more seasons after playing in 30 games at Nebraska.

Look for him to possibly return kicks for the Spartans tomorrow afternoon.

However, a more important story is that his fiancé, Arneka McReynolds, was shot in the head in July and is still unresponsive. So Alante Brown is going through a lot right now.

It is hard not to root for the guy. I hope he has a lot of success going forward, but maybe a little less success on Saturday at 3 p.m.

SPORTS! SPORTS! JORTS! SPORTS! SPORTS!

HuskerOnline spoke with Paul Konyndyk of SpartanMag to get his thoughts on the matchup. Konyndyk broke down Aidan Chiles‘ dual-threat abilities, Michigan State’s rushing attack and the defense’s test against Dylan Raiola.

The Huskers battle No. 16 Penn State (7-5, 1-1) on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. CT on FOX. Rec Hall is one of the most difficult places to play in the Big Ten. The rivalry will make the crowd even more energized.

Nebraska-Michigan State has done OK at that. Our Husker247 Podcast took a trip down memory lane recalling some of these games since the Huskers joined the Big Ten in 2011.

They’re usually close and sometimes crazy.

Here’s a quick run-through of topics Rhule hit on Thursday:

The San Diego Padres shortstop just wishes it were in place a little earlier.

Bogaerts struck out looking on a pitch that appeared out of the strike zone during the ninth inning of the team’s 3-1 loss to the Cubs in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series on Thursday in Chicago.

“STICK TO SPORTS!” Nah.
