Barcelona working on strategy to sign in-form forward permanently for lower than €30 million

Marcus Rashford has become an effective signing for Barcelona. Financial constraints meant he was brought in on loan with a non-mandatory purchase option from Manchester United in the summer.

Rashford even agreed to a significant salary reduction, and the club are more than satisfied with his contribution so far, with the 27-year-old already registering six goal contributions.

As reported earlier this week, Barcelona remain open to the idea of keeping the player beyond this season if things continue as they are.

Barcelona do not wish to pay €30 million for Rashford

However, according to SPORT, Barcelona will work on lowering the transfer fee agreed with Manchester United as part of the deal for Rashford, or even arranging a new loan operation. The club view this as highly feasible.

The Catalan club hold a purchase option slightly above €30 million, but are convinced it is entirely negotiable. Moreover, neither side rules out a further loan agreement if the player gives his approval.

Barça believe there will be no problem reaching an agreement if they wish to retain him, and the forward knows he will need to continue making financial sacrifices to stay.

Neither Barcelona nor Rashford are in any rush to define the future. Both sides understand that the player’s development will dictate the timing, but the premise is clear: he feels comfortable and wants continuity at Barcelona.

The 27-year-old forward has no desire to return to Manchester United, even though head coach Ruben Amorim is widely expected to be dismissed.

This will allow Barcelona to negotiate from a position of strength with Manchester United, a club eager to end the player’s tenure after repeated conflicts.

Rashford is under contract until 2028, and the key to the deal lies entirely in his hands. Should he apply pressure, as he did this past summer, his future at Barcelona will move forward.

The La Liga champions will not approach Manchester United until the end of the season. However, they will continue talks with Rashford, having made it clear that if he maintains his current level, they want him to remain, provided the economic conditions are right.

The objective now is to close a deal that is financially advantageous for Barcelona, especially considering his potential resale value in the future.
