Paris Fashion Week Showgoers Are Doubling Up Their Pants, Skirts and Shorts

Back in 2018, when pantsless looks began dominating editorials and campaigns, Fashionista pondered whether butts were the new pants. That proved to be a more enduring question than we could have realized at the time: In 2023, not wearing pants was a key trend at fall New York Fashion Week. Last March, Kristen Stewart campaigned hard to keep the no-pants trend going. Then, in September, the look appeared all over Spring 2025 NYFW street style.

But one year later, bottom-wear is making a triumphant return, with showgoers at Paris Fashion Week making a hard pivot: Not only are they wearing pants, skirts and shorts — but they’re actually doubling up on them. A continuation of the chaotic layering we spotted at London Fashion Week, this trend is most often associated with the throwback early-2000s skirt-over-pants look, which PFW showgoers wholeheartedly endorsed. But we also spotted instances of pants over shorts, double shorts and skirts with visible slips. Maximalism is back — and it’s more literal than ever.

Keep scrolling to see all the bottom-heavy looks from outside the Spring 2026 shows at Paris Fashion Week.
