The Spanish national football team has officially announced that Dani Olmo will be returning to FC Barcelona after suffering a muscle injury.
The 27-year-old had been one of several Barça players called up to the La Roja squad by Luis de la Fuente. However, on the eve of their game against Georgia, the playmaker could not complete the training session and had to leave early.
Tests carried out have confirmed a muscle injury, with Spain now confirming that Olmo will miss both their matches against Georgia and Bulgaria. The midfielder will return to Barcelona, where further tests will be conducted.

“Dani Olmo will be unable to face Georgia in Elche or Bulgaria in Valladolid due to injury. The player arrived at the national squad’s base last Monday showing signs of muscular fatigue, as reported by FC Barcelona,” the statement from Spain read.
“Since then, his symptoms have gradually improved with treatment and adjusted load. However, today it was planned that the forward would only do a part of the scheduled training, during which he reported muscle discomfort in his left leg.”
Continuing, it further read: “Therefore, complementary tests were carried out and he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury, which has been communicated to the medical services of FC Barcelona.
“The player will begin his recovery while remaining in the national squad’s camp, and tomorrow he will return to Barcelona, when the rest of the delegation travels to Elche to face the Georgian national team.”
As things stand, Olmo’s availability to face Girona after the international break is under a cloud of doubt.
