The Arizona Cardinals are in the midst of a four-game skid after starting the 2025 season 2-0.

The team began the year with wins over the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers, but those wins now feel like a lifetime ago. In Week 6, the team had a solid chance to upset the Indianapolis Colts and get back on the winning track, but the Colts were able to escape with a 31-27 victory.

With the latest loss, the Cardinals are 2-4 in 2025 and head coach Jonathan Gannon is now 14-26 with the team.

As a result, rumors are starting to swirl about Gannon's job status. Coming into the 2025 season, Gannon was seen as a coach who could be on the hot seat, and his disappointing start has done nothing to quell the rumors.

The Titans made the first move by firing Brian Callahan on Monday, but several more coaching changes could be coming soon. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently identified the five head coaches who are most likely to be fired next.

Regarding Gannon's job status, Moton offered the following:

In Week 6, the Cardinals started Jacoby Brissett under center and lost to the Indianapolis Colts 31-27. Though Arizona battled Indianapolis in a close matchup, it's a results-based business, which means the team's 2-4 record could turn up the temperature on Gannon's seat.

Given Murray's uncertain return date, the Cardinals could lose their fifth consecutive game in Week 7, a home matchup against the Green Bay Packers. If the Packers embarrass them at State Farm Stadium, Gannon may not be the club's head coach on the other side of a Week 8 bye.

As Moton mentioned, even though Gannon has been close to getting more wins, he has ultimately failed to do so. It hurts Gannon even more that he's currently without his starting quarterback, Kyler Murray, as he nurses a foot injury.

Even if Murray returns for Week 7, the team will have a tough task against the 3-1-1 Green Bay Packers. Packers fans are usually well-represented at State Farm Stadium, and as Moton points out, if the game gets ugly, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team make a move.

Another factor going against Gannon is the placement of the team's bye week. The Cardinals go on bye after Week 7, so if they're entering with a 2-5 record, it would seem like a realistic time to make a coaching change.

Things don't get much easier for the Cardinals after the bye week, either. The team will have back-to-back games in Dallas and Seattle before returning home in Week 11 to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
