Giants beef up offensive line in way-too-early mock

The 2025 NFL draft is barely in the books, yet there are mock drafts cropping up already for next season.

Thanks to the folks at Draft WIre for keeping us all honest. They have their way-too-early 2026 mock draft up and running and, if you’re a New York Giants fan, you probably won’t like it.

Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy has Big Blue selecting ninth overall, which means fans will endure another losing season in 2025. The New Orleans Saints selected ninth in this year’s draft, and their record was 5-12. That would be just a two-game improvement for the Giants, who finished 3-14 last season.

Popejoy actually has the Saints selecting first overall and taking Texas quarterback Arch Manning. It’s a great story since the young man was born in New Orleans and his grandfather, Archie, was the Saints’ quarterback in the 1970s.

The Giants already have their quarterback for the future in Jaxson Dart, so they’ll be little to no moaning about missing out on the latest iteration of the Manning quarterback dynasty from Giant fans.

That said, with the ninth pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the New York Giants select….

Kadyn Proctor, offensive tackle, Alabama

Improving the offensive line is general manager Joe Schoen’s favorite hobby. He hasn’t quite gotten it right and goes back to the well four years after crapping out on another Alabama tackle, Evan Neal.

Proctor is a massive player at 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds, but so was Neal. Schoen has to try again here, and you can’t blame him. Next season, the Giants will be in the market for offensive tackles. They have just two under contract: left tackle Andrew Thomas and swingman James Hudson III after declining Neal’s fifth year option for 2026.

Thomas has been hurt two years running and, although you can’t predict the future, Schoen has to continue to reinforce the offensive line through both the draft and in free agency.
