Halsbrook.com, the online luxury fashion boutique, is closing. The brand posted on Instagram that the site will be shuttered on Nov. 1.
“Endings are never easy. With both sadness and gratitude, I am announcing that Halsbrook will close on Nov. 1. We have had the honor of working with the best designers and curating exceptional wardrobes for 13 delightful years. This was a difficult decision to make, but given the tariffs and other headwinds facing our industry, [this is] the right one for Halsbrook.”
The company was founded in 2012 by Halsey Meyer Schroeder, chief executive officer, who is a graduate of Harvard Business School. The site features a curated assortment of more than 100 European and American designers.
Schroeder couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.
Among the designers on the site are Amina Rubinacci, Frances Valentine, Frank & Eileen, Gretchen Scott, Kinross, Frame, Mother, Lela Rose, Veronica Beard, White + Warren, Rotate, Peter Cohen, Oliphant, Kobi Halperin, Naadam, Vince, Weekend Max Mara and Lisa Todd.
The company is known for featuring pieces that were “on trend, but not too trendy.” The site had stylists who provided advice on ways to wear the latest styles and complete looks for any occasion. It also has exclusive editorial features on designers, trends and travel.
Halsbrook.com is having a site-wide final sale with reductions of 60 to 80 percent off fall merchandise.
In an article in 2015, WWD reported that Schroeder was a 27-year-old Harvard Business School graduate when she launched the site. She got the idea for the company after “listening to my mother talking with friends about how they couldn’t find anything to buy online. There was a lot of contemporary, but it was a bit too flashy and forward.”
The company sent “handwritten notes with all packages. We follow up with 100 percent of customers,” Schroeder said.
