Patriots Wire staff predictions for Patriots-Titans Week 7 game

The New England Patriots head on the road to Nashville for a clash with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

It will be an opportunity for Mike Vrabel to get his revenge on the Titans for firing him, as well as a chance for the Patriots to get their fifth win of the season. A victory would extend New England’s streak to four straight wins and keep them on top in the AFC East.

Meanwhile, the Titans are looking for their second win of the season after losing to the Las Vegas Raiders last week and firing their head coach, Brian Callahan. Mike McCoy has agreed to step up as the interim head coach for the Titans this season.

It’ll be a tough debut with the team already ruling out their top offensive weapon, wide receiver Calvin Ridley, on Sunday. That means rookie quarterback Cam Ward will have to get it done with other players on the roster, like Van Jefferson and Elic Ayomanor.

Ward went 26-of-38 passing against the Raiders for 222 yards, a touchdown and an interception. However, he was also sacked six times for 62 yards. That could prove to be a problem when facing a formidable Patriots defensive front.

The Patriots were impressive on the offensive side of the ball in their 25-19 win over the New Orleans Saints last week. Quarterback Drake Maye was on fire throughout the game, going 18-of-26 passing for 261 yards and three touchdowns. He would have thrown for even more yards if he hadn’t had two deep connections wiped clean from two controversial offensive pass interference penalties.

The Patriots lead the all-time series over the Titans by a 26-19-1 margin.

There are four Patriots players listed as questionable to play on Sunday, including wide receiver Stefon Diggs, edge rusher Harold Landry III, cornerback Charles Woods and safety Jaylinn Hawkins. Both Diggs and Landry were full participants at practice on Friday.

This could be an opportunity for the Patriots to take advantage of a Titans team in a rough patch. It all starts with the play of Maye and the rest of the Patriots’ offense. If they can run up the score early, it will put the low-scoring Titans offense in a bind.

Here are the final scores and predictions from the Patriots Wire’s staff:

Danny Jaillet: Patriots 27, Titans 10

Jordy McElroy: Patriots 30, Titans 13

Sophie Weller: Patriots 38, Titans 14
