This Is How Doja Cat Elevates a Corduroy Coat

Are we set to see Doja Cat on the steps of the Met? For now, TBC. But given it is the week before the Met Gala, it’s only natural that top celebrities are beginning to touch down in New York City ahead of the grand event. (There are many, many fittings to be done). Doja Cat, who is a Met Gala regular, is one such star who has landed in the Big Apple: She was spotted at Zero Bond last night for dinner, hinting at her possible return appearance on the Met steps come the first Monday in May. While we wait in anticipation, she served up a striking fashion look to tie us over—stepping out in a chic Miu Miu corduroy coat.

The long, single-breasted style is classic and timeless enough, yet she made it feel super elevated thanks to some strategic accessories. Around her neck, for one, was a silk corsage choker—an unexpected addition for evening, yet it made the ensemble feel totally whimsical. Her shoes and bags were also on point: She finished off the vibe with a pair of peep-toe pumps, and a pale yellow Celine Triomphe bag. (Clearly, the butter yellow trend is not going anywhere.)

Despite the climbing temperatures, certain celebrities aren’t yet ready to let go of their outerwear—looking at you, Jennifer Lawrence, who continues to wrap herself in a curated selection of coats.

A textured focal piece of your outfit—a corduroy coat a la Doja, a fuzzy hat like queen of gargantuan headgear Rihanna, or novelty bag lover Blake Lively—is a simple way to make a statement, too.

Her stylish look is a prime example that, sometimes, a simple and sleek coat is enough for your going-out look. Especially if you add some killer heels and a great bag or scarf. Or, like Doja Cat, you add all three.

See you on the steps of the Met, Doja? TBC.
