With a sense of style that’s just as electric as his music, it’s no surprise that Kaytranada is making his Met Gala debut. “I’ve always been curious about the Met and now here I am an my first one, so I’m really excited,” the electronic musician and DJ tells Vogue. “I have always paid attention to everybody’s looks online, but to now see the looks in person is what I’m looking forward to.”

For the 2025 Met Gala, Kaytranada and his stylist Von Ford teamed up with McQueen for an homage to Miles Davis, who was as legendary a dresser as he was a musical force. “Miles Davis felt like a perfect connection as someone who defined dandyism, but also brought his own flair to the aesthetic as a musician, like myself,” he says. “His style early on embraced traditional ideas of dandyism, but later on in his career he took on a more futuristic version of the style through his choice of glasses and outfits. Ultimately he embraced the old, the current, and the new—something that really resonated with my own style and music.”

Seán McGirr, McQueen’s creative director, more than met the Tailored for You dress code, fashioning Kaytranada a suit in black cavalry twill. Beneath the shrunken jacket and the cropped kickback trousers, he wore a white cotton poplin tuxedo shirt with a belted wingtip collar. To go along with the crisp tailoring, McGirr added a dose of whimsy with the collar, made of layers of ivory-washed silk, organza, and georgette. No detail was too small for the McQueen team, right down to the house’s skull motif laced onto his shoe.

“Kaytranada brings such a unique and fearless sense of creativity, which really connects with the spirit of McQueen. It’s been a real pleasure working with him on this Met Gala look,” McGirr tells Vogue. For McGirr, not only does the bespoke tailoring align with the night’s theme, but the “the sharp tailoring against the fluid silk, organza and georgette ruffles resonates with this year’s exhibition theme and has a beautiful synergy with his music.”
