Could Titans release former first-round pick?

The Tennessee Titans have been active in signing players this offseason. NFL teams are allowed to carry 90 players during the offseason, and as they go through OTAs, minicamps, and training camps, coaching staffs will evaluate these players.

Before the regular season starts, the roster will be trimmed down to 53 players, and there are always surprises when it comes to cuts.

The Tennessee Titans are poised to begin their rebuild in 2025, starting with surrounding Cam Ward with the right pieces. They’ve made adjustments to the offensive line, and they’ve added skill players for Ward to target down the field. But the Titans can’t keep them all, and Bleacher Report thinks Treylon Burks is on the chopping block.

Tennessee Titans: WR Treylon Burks

While Etienne hasn’t quite played up to expectations as a former first-round pick, he hasn’t been a total disappointment. Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks, on the other hand, has.

Through three seasons, Burks has just 699 receiving yards and one touchdown. He had a mere four catches last year and could be pushed further down the depth chart this year by newcomers Van Jefferson, Tyler Lockett, Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor.

Unlike quarterback Will Levis—who is largely expendable after Tennessee drafted Cam Ward at No. 1 overall—Burks does not carry substantial trade value.

Burks has definitely been a disappointment since he was drafted in 2022. During his rookie campaign, Burks recorded 33 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown. It’s been all downhill from there, leading to last season’s four receptions for 34 yards. He has not yet played an entire season due to injuries.

His lack of production can be blamed partially on injuries, but not totally. The Titans need players who not only stay healthy but also produce when they’re on the field. Burks has not proven he can do either, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him cut this summer.
