The Atlanta Dream lost their first game of the season against the Washington Mystics, and entering Tuesday’s showdown with the Indiana Fever, they were considered underdogs. So, there were high expectations that they would drop to 0-2 to start the campaign.
However, that wasn’t how the game played out. Unlike in their first contest, when they squandered a 12-point lead and lost 94-90, the Dream held on better this time and pulled off a stunner against Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
The Dream almost blew their double-digit lead, going up by as many as 14 points at one point. They also held an 11-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Nonetheless, the Fever tied the game at 89-89 with just a minute remaining.
Fortunately for Atlanta, a pair of Rhyne Howard free throws, a missed freebie from Aliyah Boston and two key stops on Natasha Howard at the end of the game allowed them to take the 91-90 win.
The Dream were naturally ecstatic after the victory. Following the game, Atlanta’s social media account quickly took to X to celebrate.
“LET’S GOOOOO!!” the Dream wrote, along with emojis showing a triumphant face and the letter A, for Atlanta.

Brittney Griner led the way for Atlanta in the win over Indiana, finishing with 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists. While she fouled out in the closing seconds, there’s no denying she was one of the most impactful players for the Dream.
Rhyne Howard had 20 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals as well, while Brionna Jones chipped in 19 points and 13 boards.
For the Fever, Caitlin Clark recorded 27 points, five rebounds, 11 assists and two steals. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston scored 24 points each, too, but they were the only members of the Indiana roster to reach double digits in scoring.
The two teams play each other again on Thursday, but this time, Indiana will visit Atlanta at State Farm Arena.
