Gracie Abrams Wears Chanel Pumps and Beaded Bow Gown at Cannes 2025

Gracie Abrams hit the Palais des Festivals on Wednesday for “The History of Sound” premiere in a look that was classic Hollywood glamour front and a playful wink in the back. Dressed head to toe in custom Chanel — jet-black beads, a halter neckline, and a draped waist — the 25-year-old singer arrived on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet separately from her boyfriend, Paul Mescal, who stars in the film.

Her shoes were black satin pumps with a pointed toe and a slender stiletto heel. Cut low at the ankle, the silhouette kept the focus on each step, framing the hem of the gown without interruption. The design echoed Chanel’s signature restraint, giving equal weight to craftsmanship and proportion.

The back of the gown introduced a different register. A vertical row of small, jeweled buttons followed the spine of the halter, ending at a large bow at the small of her back. The bow, finished with glittering tips, anchored a short train that extended just above the ankle — well within the guidelines of Cannes’s updated dress code and allowing the pumps to remain fully visible.

The look was styled by Spencer Singer, who has worked with Abrams on previous red‑carpet appearances.

Earlier this winter, Abrams performed during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Vancouver wearing Jacquemus’s La Robe Saudade Longue paired with rhinestone‑encrusted slingback pumps and sheer black tights, and in February at the Grammys she wore a bridal‑inspired Chanel gown featuring a built‑in veil with what appear to be the same black pumps as her sole accessory.
