Air Jordan 5 Retro ‘Tokyo T23’ 2025 Release Date IO3372-700

With once-mythical sneakers like the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4 set for a wide public release later this summer, Jordan Brand is reaching into its archive of rare styles to bring back yet another elusive pair.

News of an Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo” (aka “Tokyo T23”) rerelease was first shared Saturday by leaker @zsneakerheadz and has since been confirmed by the brand itself. The hyper-rare sneaker is a special colorway of Michael Jordan’s fifth signature model which combines Varsity Maize, Anthracite, Wolf Gray and black.

The style’s key color is a bright Varsity Maize yellow, which coats the entirety of the upper’s nubuck base. Accent colors are kept neutral, and the makeup features many of the Air Jordan 5’s signature details including a reflective metallic silver tongue and speckling across its fighter jet-inspired midsole design. At the heel, this limited-edition Air Jordan 5 features a logo which merges Michael Jordan’s legacy with the sneaker’s Tokyo classification as Jordan’s iconic 23 jersey number is fashioned in the style of Japanese characters.

Originally released in April 2011, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo” was created to celebrate the opening of Jordan Brand’s Tokyo 23 door in Shibuya, Japan. Although it’s since been surpassed by Shibuya’s World of Flight location, Tokyo 23 was at the time the largest Jordan Brand retail store in the country and remains a top sneaker shopping destination to this day.

Due to its scarcity, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo” has always commanded a hefty aftermarket price. StockX’s historical data indicates the sneaker has an average resale value of around $2,220 and has sold for as much as $11,000.

The ’11 launch of the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo” was exclusive to Japan, but it looks like fans can expect wider availability from the upcoming 2025 launch. The ’25 iteration is set to feature a subtle change as a yellow accent on the toe cap, originally seen on a sample version of the “Tokyo” pair, will replace the all-black look of the original.

The original iteration’s SKU was 454783-701 and the ’25 version has a SKU of IO3372-700. Retail pricing has not been announced, but the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo” is expected to arrive in stores this fall with a current target date of Sept. 27.
