Tennessee Titans believe they can ‘fix’ Dan Moore’s technique issues

The Tennessee Titans knew they needed to address the offensive line during the offseason and did just that with the additions of Dan Moore and Kevin Zeitler.

Moore has been one of the league’s more talked-about free agent moves. The Titans coughed up a lot of money for arguably an average left tackle. However, even an average player is better than what the Titans put on the field at right tackle in 2024, and Moore should be an upgrade.

Heading into Phase 3 of the offseason program, head coach Brian Callahan addressed the media and was asked about Moore and his propensity to give up sacks in 2024.

“You watch the sacks they give up, you watch the pressures they give up, and you watch penalties. And you try to determine what’s fixable and maybe what isn’t, and what you’re okay with.” Callahan said about Moore. “There’s things that I think he can be corrected in, technique-wise, that are going to help him a lot.”

He is correct. There are some things that Moore can improve moving forward, but he is experienced at left tackle and was the best available on the market. Plus, as Callahan pointed out, Moore comes from a division that boasts some of the best edge rushers, and schematically, he was often left on an island.

“There’s some things that—sometimes you just get beat by good players, which the AFC North has a few of them and we’ll see a few of them ourselves. And so there’s that part of it, and how can you help in those situations, schematically? But yeah, you watch all of it and you have to go through and you see what’s fixable and what maybe isn’t fixable, but you can help with the process of it.” He continued, “So there’s no perfect player. They’re all going to have things that they got to get better at. And we felt really comfortable with Dan (Moore) and he’s been fantastic since he’s been here in that regard, so excited to have him.”

The addition of Moore should help solidify a unit that was at the heart of many of the Titans’ offensive woes in 2024. Yes, Tennessee had a solid rushing attack, but Will Levis and Mason Rudolph were under siege for most of the season. If the Titans can get just consistent production from their offensive line in 2025, they are likely to improve offensively and win a few more games.
