Kate Hudson added intrigue to her red carpet ensemble with a pair of shoes fashioned out of a pattern usually reserved for sunglasses. Blink and you could have missed her tortoise shell shoes at an Emmy FYC event on Friday in Los Angeles for her Netflix series “Running Point.”
The actress stepped out in a pair of angular tortoise shell mules and a chocolate sleeveless drop waist dress with a large bow. Hudson accessorized with two gold bangles, stacked rings and gold drop earrings. Beauty-wise, she completed her look with her hair swept half up in a top pony tail.

Tortoise shell has been trending in its new form as a shoe pattern with designers utilizing it in an array of styles. Tory Burch currently has loafers in a tortoise coating, while Kate Spade used the print in the form of an angular block heel slingback with a pointed toe and an asymmetrical strap, dubbed the Adelaide Tortoiseshell Slingback Heels. Additionally Jeffrey Campbell currently offers the tortoise shell shoe trend in multiple ways.

Hudson likes to have fun with her shoes, including in her recent series “Running Point,” where she is unexpectedly tasked with managing her family’s pro basketball team and changing her party girl ways. In the series, Hudson suits up in statement pieces like knee-high snakeskin boots and thigh-high croc-embossed boots.
Off the screen, Hudson also favors thigh-high boots. Last weekend the multi-hyphenate took the stage for a surprise musical performance at BottleRock festival in Napa, Calif. For the show, she channeled her “Almost Famous” character Penny Lane in a pair of thigh-high Jimmy Choo boots with a slanted block heel and an off-the-shoulder white lace dress from Chloe and accessorized with Western-style silver hardware-topped black belts. Hudson treated the crowd to songs from her 2024 album “Glorious,” and covers of The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony” and Til Tuesday’s “Voices Carry.”
