Cat Footwear is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Caterpillar Inc. with a new shoe collection.

To mark the milestone, the division of Wolverine Worldwide and official footwear licensee of Caterpillar has launched three limited-edition boots. Each style is aligned to commemorate global achievements from the past century in which Caterpillar played an integral role, the company said.

These monumental events include the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, and the Channel Tunnel System.

According to Dit Vannouvong, senior director of marketing for Cat Footwear, each of the three boots were custom built for the occasion.

“We wanted to find a unique way to commemorate our anniversary, and we felt the combination of our shoes with the symbolic nature of these historical events were the right way to go for this project,” Vannouvong told FN. “Cat machines are so deeply rooted in construction and heavy machinery, and for us, boots in footwear just felt like a universal symbol of labor, durability and resilience. So, all these qualities align perfectly with the brand’s identity.”

Looking closer at the lineup, the Golden Gate Bridge boot features an overbuilt structural cage and “cable system” reminiscent of the bridge’s iconic design, as well as gold hardware and detailing — a nod to the bridge’s name.

The Apollo 11 boot pays homage to the historic moon landing, featuring a stacked sole that is extremely lightweight, inspired by the gear of lunar explorers as well as brushed, dusty coloring mimics the appearance of the initial steps on the moon.

And the Channel Tunnel boot honors the groundbreaking construction that united Great Britain with the European mainland, featuring a functioning headlight and sole lights that mimic trains speeding through a tunnel.

“For the past century, Caterpillar Inc. has shaped the infrastructure of our world — building bridges that define cities, digging tunnels that unite nations, and enabling space-age communications,” Thomas Kennedy, group president of Wolverine Work, added. “Each boot in the collection is crafted as a tribute to the monumental feats that have shaped our world. They represent more than just our legacy; they symbolize our enduring commitment to building connections and breaking new ground.”
