2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the global footwear authority Footwear News. To celebrate eight decades of excellence in footwear reporting and the rigorous chronicling of industry giants from Nike to Manolo Blahnik, the beloved publication threw a fête at The Times Square EDITION’s Paradise Club. This invite-only celebration was helmed by Michael Atmore, Fairchild Media’s Chief Brand Officer and Footwear News’ Editorial Director.

Guests toasted to the historic trade publication and featured footwear trailblazers; the evening was also marked by activations that captured Footwear News’ greatest moments since 1945, as well as sneak previews of in-print and digital anniversary content to come. Rounding out the event, attendees were presented with select gifting moments from partners such as Aetrex, ALDO Group, Buy with Prime, Caleres, Ecco, Maersk, Marc Fisher Footwear, New Balance, Puma, Rack Room Shoes, Skechers, and SKYPAD.

Gifting spanned from the highly practical (Train orthotics from Aetrex and a crew sock pack courtesy of New Balance) to the deeply indulgent (a custom Caleres tote which could be filled with the popular and delicious BonBon Swedish candy). Other merchandise for the guest list included a structured New Balance cap with iconic ’47 logo stitching and a Puma crossbody bag with an adjustable strap.

“While our roots are deeply embedded in the industry, the growing global fascination with shoes brought a powerful new audience into the fold: the consumer,” says Atmore. “Today, that audience isn’t just listening — they’re engaging. They’ve become central to the story, reshaping the business with their passion and influence. This milestone isn’t just a look back — it’s a toast to the future of an ever-evolving industry, powered by both creators and consumers alike.”
