Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, Deebo Samuel named among best new duos

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels took the league by storm in 2024. The second overall draft pick in 2024, Daniels was projected to need time to develop before he would make an impact. The entire NFL world thought that Caleb Williams would be the guy coming out strong in 2024, but their positions ended up reversed in epic fashion.

The Commanders were not a complete team in 2024, although Adam Peters made huge efforts to get the right players in the right places. This offseason, Peters did his best to support his new quarterback with added protection and weapons. Terry McLaurin was Daniels’ favorite target in 2024, but Peters sought out additional weapons and brought in Deebo Samuel. Now, the fresh combination of Daniels and Samuel has been named the third-best newly formed quarterback and wide receiver duo in 2025.

Daniels bursting onto the scene in his rookie season made the Washington Commanders the Cinderella story of 2024. This offseason, the organization did what any smart outfit does when it struck gold at a quarterback on his rookie deal, and surrounded him with talent. At the receiver position, Terry McLaurin remains the No. 1 option, but the club did go out and acquire former 49ers pass catcher Deebo Samuel, further bolstering the group. Samuel has been an All-Pro player during his career and is one of the more dynamic players, thanks to his ability to line up as a traditional receiver and work out of the backfield. If offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury keeps that versatile aspect of Samuel’s game intact as he joins the Commanders, it creates even more ways for him and Daniels to thrive and become a nightmare for opposing defenses.

There were a total of 15 quarterback/wide receiver duos on this list, and only two duos were ahead of Daniels and Samuel: Dak Prescott and George Pickens, and Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams.

Had Samuel played better the last two seasons, the Commanders could have had the top projected new duo in the league. Still, if we’re being honest, the Stafford/Adams duo is the only one we put ahead of Daniels and Samuel.

As long as Kliff Kingsbury calls the right plays at the right times and uses Deebo Samuel in a way that produces the best results possible, the Commanders will have no trouble making the postseason in 2025. And don’t be surprised if the Daniels/Samuel duo alone helps take the team to the next level.
