Miley Cyrus stepped out in New York City on Thursday in tonal stilettos with a sharp point of view, continuing the pointed footwear streak she’s maintained throughout her “Something Beautiful” press tour.

The classic pumps, in a deep brown shade that echoed the rest of her look, featured pointed toes, slim stiletto heels and delicate ankle straps. Their minimalist design offered contrast to the textural details of the archival ensemble, grounding the look with a subtle sheen.

Cyrus paired the heels with a corseted brown dress from Jean Paul Gaultier’s fall 1990 collection. The vintage piece featured satin panelling, visible boning and prominent grommet lacing down the bodice and sides. A fitted mini silhouette gave way to long, strand-style fringe that extended below the knee, adding movement. The look originally appeared in Gaultier’s early 1990s lingerie-as-outerwear collections.

Throughout the press tour, Cyrus has leaned into a consistent footwear language — directional heels with sharp points, wraparound straps, and a sense of structure that anchors both archival and contemporary silhouettes. Earlier this week, she wore glossy black ankle-strap pumps with a late-1990s Mugler dress on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and pointed black pumps with a leather miniskirt and sleeveless top two days prior. On the album’s cover, she nods to another archival era, posing in a look from Thierry Mugler’s fall 1997 collection.

In a series of May appearances, she continued the motif with more statement-making pairs. At a Spotify event on May 6, Cyrus wore black knee-high McQueen boots, pairing them with a brown leather miniskirt and oversized biker jacket by the brand. She also chose platform pumps to complement a sharp-shouldered Mugler minidress from spring 2025, and black pointed-toe heels to ground a two-tone Tom Ford suit with crisp tailoring. In a snakeskin-patterned Ludovic de Saint Sernin dress, she completed the look with coordinating heels that echoed the dress’s texture.

Across these moments, Cyrus’ footwear choices have provided a cohesive undercurrent — unifying vintage and modern looks with a focus on bold lines and minimalist but pointed structure.

“Something Beautiful,” her ninth studio album, debuted last week. The project is accompanied by a musical film, premiering on Friday at the Beacon Theatre in New York as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
