Keyshawn Davis escorted out by police after wild backstage brawl with fighter who beat Davis’ brother

A nightmare week for Keyshawn Davis somehow got even worse.

Davis was supposed to make the first defense of his WBO lightweight world title Saturday night at a sold-out Scope Arena in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. However, he missed weight by more than four pounds for his main event bout against Edwin De Los Santos at Friday’s weigh-in, and the fight was canceled just 24 hours before it was scheduled to take place. Davis was subsequently stripped of his title.

As a result, Davis instead watched along as a spectator as his brother Kelvin Davis lost his unbeaten record in the night’s reshuffled co-feature to Nahir Albright, whom Keyshawn Davis himself faced in October 2023 and beat by majority decision, although the latter result was later changed to a no contest after Davis tested positive for marijuana.

Albright claimed that following his win over Kelvin, he was involved in an altercation with Keyshawn and younger brother Keon Davis in his locker room.

“Keyshawn and his little brother [Keon Davis] jumped me,” Albright said on the ESPN broadcast. “They started walking up to me, all tough, putting his head against mine, and then grabbed me.”

ESPN later showed footage of a backstage brawl involving the Davis brothers, with punches and objects thrown. Keyshawn Davis had to be escorted out of the Scope Arena by police following the incident.

Keyshawn Davis can be seen on video accompanied by his infant son in a stroller backstage moments before the brawl.

“Why would you put your family in this type of situation?” ESPN broadcaster Bernardo Osuna commented on the incident. “It’s just uncalled for and unfortunate what we’ve seen here at the Scope Arena.”

Check out full event results and highlights from Saturday here, including Abdullah Mason stopping Jeremia Nakathila in the fifth round in the night’s replacement main event.
