This year marked the 21st annual Paraiso Miami Swim Week (the official licensed Swim Week of Miami), which included more than a dozen runway shows by the trendiest of swimwear brands — Oceanus, Oséree and Monday Swimwear, to name a few — mixed with a number of buzzy activations, award shows, gifting suites, openings and showings.
Off the runways, this year’s Swim Week highlights included the opening of the Swimwear Icons Hall of Fame, which honored Megan Thee Stallion (who later made her runway debut for her new swimwear line in collaboration with Walmart) with the Cultural Icon award.
Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman, the founders of Monday Swimwear, received the New Media Icons award and swim brand Vitamin A took home the Sustainability Icon award. Also of note, Vogue Mexico kicked off the week with an opening runway show featuring Latin American brands SER x Andrea Agudelo, California Dream Collection, Castañer, Sinesia Karol and Bee Surreal by Lola, among others. Paraiso also partnered with the Ritz Carlton Hotel of South Beach and Blacklane Chauffeur services to host and shuttle its VIP guests throughout the week.

So, which swim and resortwear trends are top of mind for designers for summer 2025? Summer-ready textures like open-knit crochet, intricate beading and sequin embellishments that shimmered under the spotlights of the runway.
When it came to prints, animal motifs — leopard, python and beyond — proved wildly popular, while tropically scenic designs were also front and center, as seen at Oceanus, Luli Fama and more. Color trends were also both surprising (shades of merlot and burgundy were a common thread, as were all-black ensembles) as well as more standard (plenty of metallic gold and flashy brights).
On the accessories front, Western-core continued to dominate with plenty of trendy cowboy boots and hats sprinkled throughout collections. Brands also made a case for hair accessories that match your swimwear — whether as scarves, scrunchies, or head wraps — for a complete, head-to-toe look.
Many runway pieces are already available, some directly as seen on the models — including from Salty Mermaid, Sinesia Karol and Monday Swimwear. Ahead, get a first glimpse at (and shop!) summer 2025’s standout swim and resortwear trends.

Artisanal details, such as intricate beading, elevated simple swim silhouettes. Be it through elaborate embroidery or beaded, embellished accents, brands like Oceanus and Oseree were particularly adept when it comes to this trend this season.

Animal prints appeared throughout many of the shows: A portion of the Salty Mermaid runway show was “mob wife” themed, complete with chocolate cigars as party favors and prints that confirmed feisty spots are still a neutral pattern for summer attire.

Beachy Shells

If runways provide any indication, it will be a ‘mermaid summer’ with shells and fish motifs aplenty. We even spotted this theme permeating accessories on the Oceanus runway via the brand’s sunglasses collaboration with SOJO eyewear. And of course, there were reimagined classic shell tops that Ariel would surely covet.

Beyond swimwear, popular resortwear looks included coordinating shirt set combinations that featured oversized, relaxed button-down collared shirts (perfect for slipping over a damp swimsuit while you lounge) with an accompanying bottom — either loose boxer shorts or a comfy skirt — that can take you from the beach to the bar effortlessly.

Shimmering shades of gold complement every skin tone and always make for a wow-worthy look under the sun or in the water. The gilded trend showed up in full-on metallic looks, as well as via gold hardware accents, like chain embellished straps and belts.

Merlot and Burgundy

Red wine is typically not associated with summer, but according to the swim runways, that’s about to change: Burgundy and merlot hues — typically reserved for autumn — appeared repeatedly across swim and resortwear collections.

Sure, crochet and open-knits make for popular layers during summer due to their versatile nature, but this year’s Boho resurgence has positioned the trend to be bigger than ever. We like co-ord sets, like a bikini and matching cover-up, for a complete ensemble while beach- or pool-side.

Midnight Mermaid

Minimalists (and New Yorkers) that favor the colorless monotone aesthetic can rejoice knowing that all-black ensembles are very much ‘in’ this summer, despite the heat. Be it a cut-out monokini (monokinis are also anticipated to be popular) or an LBD worn as a cover-up, a solid black ensemble will definitely turn up the heat both on and off the shore.

Western Accessories

With the wave of Western-core only growing in popularity, it’s perhaps unsurprising that honky-tonk has weaseled its way into swimwear, as well. Monday Swimwear accessorized its models with cowboy hats, while Montce and Mariella Swim sent cowboy boots down the runway. And don’t miss the embroidered boots from Oceanus.

Matching Headwear

A protective headscarf might be the most practical of this summer’s swim trends, and this time, it’s all about going matchy-matchy. Matching one’s headwear to a swimsuit or sarong says, “I’m put together, even when I’m on the beach.”
