Dick’s Sporting Goods Joins Uber Eats Platform

Dick’s Sporting Goods is expanding its digital footprint to include the Uber Eats platform.

The retailer has partnered with Uber Technologies Inc., giving Uber Eats customers the ability both ordering a wide selection of their favorite footwear and other items and at the same time have on-demand delivery.

With over 800 Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy locations, Uber Eats users beginning this week can schedule deliveries for their orders at their convenience.

And to celebrate the launch, new and existing Uber Eats users can take up to 30 percent off of select Dick’s and Golf Galaxy items, as well as enjoy other added perks, including free delivery on eligible orders. Shoppers can make their orders through the “retail” category on the Uber Eats app. The app also allows them to track their order in real time.

Dick’s said that the partnership brings the “locker room to the living room” by enabling athletes to get their gear fast, whether they are prepping for a weekend tournament or grabbing last-minute essentials.

“We believe that speed and convenience is key to our omni-channel experience, and we’re excited to launch our partnership with Uber Eats as an extension of that philosophy,” Scott Casciato, vice president of omni-channel fulfillment and strategy at Dick’s, said. “When those moments arise where new gear is needed, this partnership with Uber Eats extends our capabilities to give our athletes convenient shopping to get the products they need fast and in a way that is convenient for them.”

The Dick’s partnership further expands the Uber Eats platform beyond food delivery. Last year, Uber Eats partnered with Allbirds.

Uber Eats isn’t the retailer’s first foray into same-day delivery. Five years ago, it teamed up with Instacart to offer same-day service over the holiday season from more than 150 stores across nine states and Washington, D.C.

In 2023, JD Sports and Finish Line also joined forces with Instacart for same-day delivery. And last year, Academy Sports + Outdoors teamed up with DoorDash, offering same-day delivery in less than an hour on average.
